Deirdre Flint:
Lauded
by The New York Times, Billboard Magazine, and The Christian
Science Monitor, Deirdre Flint’s songs hang out at the
intersection where folk music and stand-up comedy collide.
Since her first CD The Shuffleboard Queens debuted in 1999,
Flint has played The Kennedy Center and The Kerrville Folk
Festival and has been heard on 100+ radio programs
throughout the country including The Dr. Demento Show and
The World Café. Deirdre's song "Taxidermal Therapy" from
The Babe's new "Hormonal Imbalance" CD was chosen to
represent the Babes on Dr. Dimento's Best of 2006
compilation. Her offbeat humorous songs about bridesmaids'
dresses and shoe shopping as therapy have been heard on
TLC's network specials, "A Dating Story," and "Always a
Bridesmaid," as well as the BBC's documentary "The
Reclaimers." Teaching was her first career and she started
out writing children’s songs. This year, she was
commissioned to write a kid’s song about mermaids for the
town of Norfolk, VA to accompany the mermaid statues that
are scattered throughout the town. Deirdre has a Masters
degree in Elementary Education from U Penn and is writing a
book about education. After a week of cooking school in New
York City, she can make a flaming dessert - on purpose - and
she can put it out, too. Though she is still single, she
does not own a cat. |
